beautiful and dirty, dirty rich....

Catwalk inspiration - think haute couture, think Gaultier!

Today I felt like going through the fall-winter '11 couture shows for the gazillionth (is that even a word?) time, and I must say Jean Paul Gaultier's struck me in more than one way. It reminded me how fashion really and truly is art - where the models are the canvas and the clothing is the work of art.

This collection infinitely alluded to the Black Swan (starring Nathalie Portman) - dark echoes, feathers and Russian ballet. Perhaps due to my recent surge of love towards tailoring this collection gained more points from my part. Gaultier's tailoring is "peerless" as style.com aptly remarked. I'm especially in love with the mutated trench - it has all the qualities of the timeless trench with the added tint of evening and avant-garde - that's Gaultier for you...

Ps: it also reminded me I should buy a fan - a classy one and, ideally, smoke a french cig. Classy and sassy...

Pss: and I confirmed my eminent need for a tux.
